I once laid down on a bench in a garden and tried to understand how large the universe was by looking at the stars. A voice inside of me started explaining it to me and I started to understand and after about 5 minutes I ran inside being filled with a panic and a fear of height that held on for a week.
I think we are not meant to understand how small we actually are, because if we could nothing would matter anymore (which it doesn’t, but life is no fun if you look at it that way).

It’s true that it’s no fun to look at it that way. But, having a higher level perspective from time to time can be a humbling experience that forces one to examine what matters most (ideally- family/friends, physical & mental health, financial stability, etc.). My take away from Ray’s quote is to look out for myself and the people I care about and make every day count.
