“The Fox typewriter, made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is one of the most attractive and well-built classics, in both its understroke and its frontstroke forms. ” (from The Classic Typewriter Page) The Dog typewriter…oh..wait a minute…there isn’t one…
Leo, there is a cool Fox Typewriter lapel pin on eBay now
Linda, I can’t find it on Ebay UK. Is there a link?
I’m happy to get and ship to you
Linda, that’s very sweet of you to offer, but I have more things than I need already. Even this Saturday I’m picking up my 20th typewriter, my 5th Olympia Traveller de Luxe, for the princely sum of £14, (about $17) and the long journey to the outer reaches of the east end of London (actually called Barking – there’s no getting away from dogs) will cost me nothing because old farts like me travel free on buses and trains in this great metropolis. (Well, £10 for the year, which is practically free!) But thanks again, it’s appreciated.
Leo, I must come visit you this year. I’m British but have never been there. Maiden name Davies (Wales). We are two peas in a pod.

Vintage Fox Light Running typewriter adv lapel pin
Who would have guessed you were Welsh, Linda! l’m British through being born in London where I’ve lived all my life, but my blood is Spanish from both parents, if blood counts for anything. I’ve only been to Spain a handful of times that wouldn’t add up to a month of my life. I’ve been to Wales twice: to Fishguard, a town with only 3,500 inhabitants, where Under Milk Wood was filmed with Taylor and Burton and O’Toole, and Gregory Peck’s version of Moby Dick. Also Carmarthen, where a friend of the family, “Uncle John”, was from. Probably the kindest man I ever knew.
Leo, if you’d like to be pen pals I’m at email@example.com. My mothers family is Gorham
I found a “message in a bottle” today as I was walking the shoreline….
