  1. Tori, great prompt! Like you, I can take a mental stroll through my paternal grandparents’ home in the Bernal Heights section of San Francisco. Great times, great memories.

  2. Teenage bedroom. Cramped. Bed, desk, chest, no door on tiny closet. Few books. Playboy under bed. Cheap hand me down stereo. Played The Beatles, Rolling Stones, later Canned Heat, Steppenwolf, Quicksilver Messenger Service.

  3. Tori, one set of grandparents, well, I wish the memories could be erased from my brain-all of it! But the other set I do have great memories! Mom was the oldest of 7-she and her mom pregnant at the same time once! A bustling home with flour tortillas coming non-stop from the stovetop and a park nearby because the house could not always contain all the joy in one place! An undeveloped dirt hill a block away that we took our cardboard sleds to often!

    1. Ladona – my grandma could make tortillas as fast as we could eat them! She made smaller tortillas for the little kids and I remember running through her kitchen and grabbing one off the stack. She would yell at us kids but later I learned that she put them there easily within reach for us.
