Joe, loving your thread. I worked in a non-technical area (marketing) for a telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the mid-90s — exponentially inferior to the facilities at Intel — and the number of post-production workarounds I had to document were astounding (think, Rube Goldberg + Radio Shack). The good ol’ days might not have been that “good” but they were certainly interesting.

John Baird–will you gather your many wonderful essays into a single book? I would buy it. Today’s, which begins with drought, travels to Togo, then reflects on experience near versus experience far ways of knowing, is a treasure. Thank you.
